Likely rosewood fife, brass connector with period 'cheater' present, missing ferrules. Large crack is present down the shaft of the instrument. Approx. 14 3/4 in.
Civil-War Era fife purported to be picked up by Corporal Marquis de Lafayette March in 1863 from the Monocacy Battlefield. Modern tag stating such provenance is attached, signed by a descendant of Corporal March.
