A collection 40 issues of the virulently antisemitic newspaper Der Stürmer [The Stormer or The Stormtooper]. The first issue was published in 1923 and became a central element of the Nazi propaganda machine during World War II. The paper was published and edited by Julius Streicher (1885-1946), who became enormously wealthy from the success of the paper. 

The issues here are typical, printing obscene and graphic caricatures of Jews alongside vituperative articles on blood libel and other conspiracies. As early as 1933, Streicher was calling for the extermination of the Jews in Der Stürmer. Articles demanding the annihilation of the "Jewish race" became frequent and regular, especially during the War. 

Although Streicher's tactics and behavior were seen as unseemly by many Nazi leaders, including Hermann Göring, Hitler was his steadfast ally. Believing his primitive methods were effective in influencing common people, Hitler supported the paper throughout the war. Hitler's confidant Hermann Rauschning wrote, "He, Hitler, was simply on thorns to see each new issue of the Stürmer. It was the one periodical that he always read with pleasure, from the first page to the last."

After the War, Streicher was convicted at Nuremberg as an accessory for crimes against humanity and was executed by hanging in 1946.
