Feliks Hadyniak, editor. 4,000,000: Tygodnik wystepujący w obronie polskiego stanu posiadania. [A Weekly Publication Defending Polish Interests and Holdings]. 15 issues. Poznań, et al., [Poland]: Feliks Hadyniak, Kazimierz Załachowski, 1938-1939.
An extremely rare anti-Semitic periodical published in Poznań, Poland, in 1938 and 1939 on the eve of the Nazi and Soviet invasion of Poland. Poznań was the site of increased segregation and anti-Semitic prosecution in the 1930s, and this is just one of several periodicals issued in interwar Poznań that attempted to "Build an imaginary Jewless future of the city." (Roszak, p. 4).
The issues here, including 12 issues from 1938 and 3 issues from 1939, are characterized by fearmongering headlines fomenting anti-Jewish sentiments replete with gross caricatures of Jews. Headlines include "When will 'Polish Radio' get rid of the Jews?" and "The White Eagle must lean upon the Cross of Christ." The issues heavily advocate for emigration of Jews from Poland to Palestine. One issue features a large front page caricature showing a Jew reading the Talmud in one hand and spreading "smuggling, treason, hatred, demoralization, and communism" with the other.
VERY RARE. At the time of cataloging, the only located copies are held at the Jagiellonian Library (Jagiellonian University, Kraków, Poland) and the National Library of Poland (Biblioteka Narodowa).
