Short-recoil operated toggle locked striker fired pistol fed by detachable magazines. Item shows DWM maker mark to toggle link for Deutche Waffen und Munitionsfabriken, with GELADEN loaded chamber indicator marking and GESICHERT safety marking below lever. Imperial German {Reichsadler} to left breechblock, right slide, and barrel. Right slide shows three Gothic letter inspection stamps. Date mark of 1917 to upper slide and 8,86 bore gauge to lower barrel. Item mounts tangent rear notch and dovetailed front blade sights. Serial numbers match on all metal parts including firing pin, but grips are not numbered. Magazine well is out of spec, and magazines cannot be inserted or removed easily. Asymmetrical wear suggests this handgun was likely mounted to a display board for some time. Lacks magazine. {C&R}

Good. Bore is dirty with firing residues that should clean to Bright or better with crisp rifling throughout. Metal finish shows some pitting and metal flaking on the right barrel, slide, and frame, consistent with cloth contact marks. Some edgewear overall with finish worn thin around handling surfaces. Brown patina dominates on gripstraps. Some straw colors remain on small parts. Replaced grips retain crisp edges. Action functions when cycled by hand.
