Cleaned to bright fading to a mottled brown patina with walnut straight wrist stock secured with three barrel bands, a brass front blade sight, and brazed bayonet lug. Single shot flintlock musket in original flint with flat beveled edge lock struck CP for the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania. Mounts a double throat cock with flint, and a straight toe frizzen. Cock is flat faced with a straight spur. Spear point tip to frizzen spring. Flashpan is one piece with lock, and the touch hole is well centered in the pan. One piece steel buttonhead ramrod. Sling loop to middle barrel band and one piece trigger plate. Barrel struck with {Liberty Cap/P} at left breech beside a weak line, possibly formerly the CP marking. Left counterpane has been struck MB. Further markings scratched into wood include XI on counterpane, initials WE to left butt, and a crude {Star} mark on the right butt. {ANTIQUE}
Good as previously Cleaned. Bore is Dark with patina throughout. Bright finish fading to mottled brown with light pitting along the edges of the stock. Front sight tarnished. Edges of the barrel bands show some deformations and nicks. Stock has handling wear and dents, with chips around the barrel bands and left tang. Split forming through butt measures 5.5". Crack through left counterpane along tang. Action functional.
