Nicholas Winther worked as a photographer in Texas operating both alone and in partnership with other photographers. He worked in San Antonio solo and at times with Henry A. Doerr, and also operated in San Marcos and New Braunfels. Known views are from his San Antonio addresses.

Generally good condition overall, with sharp definition and solid mounts. Several cards exhibit typical peripheral handling wear, light surface soiling, faint foxing, dampstaining, or corner softening consistent with age. Some views with collector's notes or stamps on verso.
