Tower percussion rifle. Lockplate stamped with "1861 / TOWER" and British crown to the rear of the hammer. Barrel 26 1/4 in. Overall 42 1/2 in.
With no other British military marks, typical of guns intended for export. The upper left of the breech is marked with the usual post-1813 Birmingham commercial Provisional View, Definitive View and Proof marks, with a pair of 25 gauge marks in between the other proofs, indicating the gun is .577 caliber.
