WITH SIGNATURE OF ABRAHAM LINCOLN TIPPED INTO FRONTISPIECE. 

 

Front free endpaper inscribed: "C.H. Buxton / Washington City / July 25th 1866." With vignetted bust-length albumen CDV portrait of Lincoln mounted to front free endpaper. 

 

Provenance: C.H. Buxton (ownership inscription to front free endpaper); Hindman Auctions, Sale 1250 American Historical Ephemera & Photography, 30 November 2023, Lot 265. 

 

A first edition memorial of Abraham Lincoln featuring a signature clipped from a document of the President mounted to the frontispiece portrait. Interestingly, the book bears the ownership inscription of C.H. Buxton, identified as the assistant Doorkeeper for the House of Representatives.
