Metro-Goldwyn-Mayer, 1936. Belgian pre-war, first-release "A Night at the Opera," featuring stylized portraits of Harpo, Groucho, and Chico Marx. Printed by L. & H. Verstegen, Brussels, Belgium, with imprint to the lower right margin. 23 1/2 x 33 1/4 in., framed to 25 1/4 x 35 in.

Prior to the outbreak of World War II, Belgian theatrical and advertising posters were produced on a grand scale, dramatically larger than their post-war counterparts. During the wartime occupation, Belgium experienced a great paper shortage, and, in a desperate bid for materials, printers requisitioned nearly every available poster or map, using the blank verso to print new wartime broadsides. A rare and exceptional cinematic survivor of the pre-War era.

Very good. The poster appears framed and in very good overall condition, exhibiting strong, vivid colors and minor overall toning consistent with age, particularly along the unprinted cream field.
