Single shot percussion altered smooth bore muzzleloading pistol with replacement captive swivel ramrod, dished notch rear sight and remnants of brass blade front sight and with a belt hook on the reverse. Lock marked "U.S. / S. NORTH" under the drum bolster with the date "1828" at the tail of the lock. Breech marked "US / ET" (Elisha Toby) over a raised "P" proof in a depressed oval. No cartouches are present. Drum conversion lock with slightly crude percussion hammer without a checkered spur, similar to hammers found on Civil War era southern alterations of single shot flintlock martial pistols. {ANTIQUE}

Good. Bore rusty, dark and pitted. Metal cleaned to bright and starting to tone down with scattered surface oxidation, some areas of minor surface roughness and some scattered pitting. Mechanically functional action. Swivel ramrod is a modern replacement. Wood with moderate wear, lightly sanded and showing scattered bumps, dings and mars.
