A poignant and still moment - two soldiers find their companion slain in the previous day's battle. One of the companions cradles the corpse of their friend, confirming the grim reality of his identity. The other man stands with his rifle, his head hung in sorrow. The landscape shows the gruesome scars of war - broken fences, scarred trees, military detritus, and the bodies of other fallen men.
