M1860 cavalry saber. Trenton, New Jersey: Emerson & Silver, 1863. Ricasso obverse stamped: "Emerson / & / Silver / Trenton / NJ". Ricasso reverse stamped with the Inspector stamps of Dexter F. Mosman above the leather washer: "US / DFM / 1863". Blade 35 in. Overall 42 1/2 in.
This sword, complete in scabbard, has a clean blade with clear stamps on the ricasso. The M1860 was much lighter than the M1840 and was carried throughout the war by numerous cavalry regiments.
