Three (3) albumen CDVs offering picturesque views of Lookout Mountain, Georgia, including two by Robert Linn, each dated 1864 and bearing the photographer’s imprint on the mount verso. The third with mount recto inscribed in pencil: “Side of Lookout Mount.”

Lookout Mountain’s sweeping vistas, rugged terrain, and recent military associations drew numerous civilian visitors eager to acquire souvenir photographs of the landscape itself or personalized images of themselves posed within it. In one of the views offered here, a woman is seated upon the mountain’s craggy surface, with the steep, wooded slope descending behind her. She wears a pagoda-sleeved day dress trimmed with fringe, a fashionable style element widely seen in women’s dress between 1857 and 1864.
