.45-75. 22" barrel. SN: 45324 (mfg. ca. 1884). Blued finish color casehardened lever and hammer, brass cartridge lifter, smooth walnut stock carbine butt and smooth forend with single barrel band and nose cap. Lever action tubular magazine fed saddle ring carbine with third model receiver with integral dust rail and dust cover intact, correct pattern ladder rear sight, Barleycorn front sight and a saddle ring on the reverse of the receiver. Upper tang marked "MODEL 1876", lower tang with serial number. Standard two-line barrel address and patent markings. Caliber marking on top of barrel forward of receiver. No caliber marking on bottom of cartridge lifter. Stock with a weak, but correct "N.W.M.P."  in an arc on the obverse butt, indicating ownership by the Northwest Mounted Police. This gun falls in the correct serial number range for the NWMP purchased carbines. The NWMP only acquired 1,611 of these guns circa 1885 and most remained in service and inventory into the early years of the 20th century. A fairly uncommon Winchester 1876 carbine that shows real world use but appears to be correct in features and markings. {ANTIQUE}

Good. Bore moderately oxidized with evenly distributed pitting and visible rifling. Metal with some very minor traces of thinned and worn finish in protected areas. Lever and hammer with traces of case colors. Most of the metal has a lightly oxidized brownish gray patina with some lightly scattered surface roughness and some light pitting. Metal with some scattered dings and marks. Markings remain mostly legible. Action is mechanically functional, if somewhat stiff. Wood with moderate wear and a crack that runs from the end of the upper tang through the toe of the stock, repaired with glue and dowels, which are visible in the toe line of the stock. Butt lightly refinished, with some bumps and dings, forend with moderate wear and showing bumps, dings and mars.
