.30 caliber (chambering unknown) & 12 gauge choked Modified & Full. 30" barrels. SN: 4599. Browned Damascus pattern finish, color casehardened receiver, iron furniture, checkered pistol gripped stock wth hard rubber buttplate and checkered forend. Break open drilling design with rifle barrel mounted on top, instead of the bottom, double hammers, double triggers, extractors, made without a rear sight and with a small blade front sight. Locks marked "E.C. MEACHAM ARMS & CO" on the left and "IN ST. LOUIS MO" on the right, both in ribbons. Belgian made with Belgian proofs on the bottom of the barrels and on the water table. Shotgun barrels marked "17.4" and "17.8" for bore diameter in millimeters, no rifle chambering is marked. Matching serial numbers on frame and barrels.

E.C. Meacham  & Co was a prominent late 19th century St. Louis dealer in hardware and sporting goods and sold a large line of mostly Belgian-made arms under their own brand name, many of which were made by Henri Pieper of Liege. In 1897 Meacham was bought out by the equally prominent Simmons Hardware of St. Louis. {ANTIQUE}

Fair to Good. Bores dark and dirty with pitting and wear in the rifle bore but decent rifling remaining. Metal with strong traces of the browned Damascus patterned finish intact. Metal moderately oxidized with scattered paths of minor surface rust, some areas of surface roughness and some pitting. Mechanically functional action. Wood sanded with the checkering smoothed, wood showing bumps, dings and mars. Buttplate with a large chip missing at the top edge.
