.38 caliber smoothbore. 38.5" tapered, screw-off round barrel. NSN. Bright finish, brass receiver, metal reservoir butt covered in shark or ray skin. Single shot twist off breechloading butt reservoir air gun with tall, fixed leaf rear sight and German silver blade front sight. Top of receiver engraved in two script lines "J.P. BOSLER IN / PERMASENS." Brass frame engraved with floral motifs and game scenes. Threaded receiver screws into both the butt and the barrel. {ANTIQUE}

Johann Peter Bosler worked circa 1689-1742 and is listed in Stockel as being a specialist in making air guns. 

Fair to Good. Bore dark and dirty and moderately oxidized. Metal with a moderately oxidized brown and gray patina with scattered surface roughness and pitting. Brass receiver with a medium golden patina and clear engraving. Not mechanically functional, no sear is present. Seals could not be checked, but are likely no longer functional. Shark skin cover on butt well worn with tears, repairs and loss.
