A striking late-war Hungarian anti-Nazi propaganda poster by Sándor Ék. A humiliated Hitler, bandaged and desperate, crawls out of his "Fascist Cave" of a destroyed Nazi helmet into a field of waiting bayonets. A storm of missiles from the United States, the United Kingdom, and the Soviet Union rain down upon him.
Sándor Ék (Шандор Эк), born Alex Keil in the Austro-Hungarian Empire, was a prolific graphic artist and committed Communist. After his early career in Hungary, Vienna, and the Soviet Union, he joined the Red Army in World War II. After the Soviets invaded Hungary in 1944, Ék returned to his war-torn homeland. He photographed exhumations of the mass graves and designed anti-Nazi propaganda posters, such as this fine example.
