A Soviet World War II propaganda poster encouraging citizens to build and utilize slit trenches. The artist shows a family safely tucked in an underground trench while a bomb detonates aboveground, destroying the landscape. 

 

Though best known as an architect, Vasilyev was a prolific poster designer during the War, winning 1st nd 2nd prizes in an anti-fascist poster competition run by the Arts Department of the Leningrad City Executive Committee.
