.45 ACP. 4" barrel length. SN: NSN. Nickel plated refinish with fixed rear notch and front post iron sights, zinc-alloy striker, and produced entirely from metal stampings. Single shot pistol with vertically sliding breechblock and a hollow grip for housing spare ammunition. Item shows no original manufacturer markings and has a smooth bore, correct for original production FP-45 pistols. Firing pin appears to have been intentionally ground off. Left grip is engraved Kenneth W Roush/Capt Ord Dept/01549063/Philippine Island/1945. Retains the original cover plate.

Extant service records identify a Major Kenneth W. Roush, service number O-1549063, who retired on January 30, 1961 after over 20 years of service with the United States Army. Medical records indicate that, at the time of his treatment for Enteritis in April, 1944, he held the rank of Captain in the Ordnance Department. It is likely that many records of his service were among those destroyed in the 1973 fire in the National Personnel Records Center. Further research may prove fruitful. An uncommon handgun with a direct attribution to an officer of the Ordnance Department who served during World War II; acquired in one of the few places where FP-45 pistols are known to have been used in anger. {C&R}

Fair as Refinished. Bore is frosty with some patina. Nickel refinish flaking at some edges with pinpoint patina forming through finish in some spots. Further abrasions and flaking over the breechblock. Firing pin has been intentionally ground off, rendering the handgun nonfiring. Action otherwise functional when cycled by hand.
