7.92x57mm. 23.62" barrel. SN: 18492. Blued metal finish with bright cup buttplate and stock disc in laminated wood semi-pistol grip stock with half-length upper handguard and mounting ZF-41 scope. Bolt action internal magazine fed repeating rifle charged with stripper clips mounting factory standard tangent rear notch and inverted-V front blade sights with front sight hood. Receiver shows the byf/44 marking indicating it was made by Mauser in 1944. Serial numbers match where observed but the stock has been sanded, leaving the serial number illegible and the waffenamt to right butt faint. Rifle shows {Eagle/135} waffenamt marks on the right receiver, on bolt handle, and on the trigger plate.  Beveled roller scope mount with correct {Eagle/135} waffenamt to the left side of the scope base. Scope mount shows the duv code for Berlin-Lubecker production with the scope showing dow mark of Waffenwerke Bruenn. The scope itself shows a struck ZF40 model mark followed by 41/1 marking applied later, indicating it was originally manufactured for G41 rifles. The serial number on the scope base is 23243 with the last two digits scratched into the covers, and an {Eagle/214} waffenamt on the left side of the scope mount, and the rear marked K98k-Zf.41. Scope retains its sun shade. Rifle comes with a period unmarked leather sling. Though originally intended to be used by marksmen, Zf41 outfitted Mauser rifles were pressed into service as sniper rifles during World War II owing to shortfalls in sniper rifle production. Their long eye relief, narrow field of view, limited magnification, and compromised light transmission rendered them ill suited to sniping. {C&R} 

Good. Bore is dirty with some residues and jacket oxidation that should clean to Bright with crisp rifling throughout. Metal finish is thinning with brown patina on the barrel band, nosecap, buttplate, triggerplate, and stock disc. Some further brown streaks and spots scattered overall. Stock has been sanded, rendering all marks illegible. Stock exhibits some handling dents and abrasions. Sling with some cracking, crazing, and abrasions. The scope is dirty and must be cleaned. Action functional.
