An Illustrated Letter, together with Four Original Artist-Decorated Mailing Envelopes

Pen and ink on paper

Letter signed Al M Napoletano, envelopes signed to upper left as return address, postmarked upper right

Correspondence addressed variably to Mr. L. B. Robinson and Mr. Dick Lemmon. Lawrence B. Robinson (1920 - 2005) was a professor of chemical engineering at UCLA's Henry Samueli School of Engineering. In the letter to Robinson, Napoletano discusses his artistic background and other Western artists whom he admires. First on his list is renowned painter and sculptor Charles Marion Russell (1864 - 1926), who is also known for his elaborately illustrated letters and envelopes. U.S. Public Records indices notes that a Richard D. "Dick" Lemmon (1940-?) retained a residence at 20307 Streit Road in Harvard, Illinois from 1989 until 2013.
