Six (6) NASA proof pictures of Apollo 17 landing. 10 x 7.5 in.
Six pages of fascinating documentation from the Apollo 17 moon landing. Featuring various images of the moon's surface, including a view of Harrison Schmitt posing on the lunar rover. Each page features film strips of 8 images, equaling a total of 48 total stunning images of the moon.
Harrison Hagan "Jack" Schmitt (b. 1935), after a long career of developing geological field techniques and training to assist the Apollo crews and their missions, would finally set foot on the moon. After pressure from lunar geologists for NASA to send a professional geologist to space, Schmitt would be assigned to the Apollo 17 crew as the Lunar Module Pilot; he would land on the moon in December 1972. While on the surface, Schmitt collected the rock sample "Troctolite 76535," which is considered to be one of the most interesting moon samples to return to Earth.
These intriguing images show the sights the Apollo crew would have experienced on their trek around the lunar surface.
