Revolutionary War-Era signal hand cannon. Approx. 2 9/16 x 3 1/16 in.
This example consists of a short cylinder barrel with three raised bands and a small touch hole at its base. These devices, known as "thundermugs," were fired to convey naval signals or as a part of ceremonial salutes and celebrations.
