A Revolutionary War-era newspaper featuring front page reporting on the Siege of Savannah: “We hear from Savannah that the men of war have left the river so that there is not now one of the enemy’s vessels in South Carolina or Georgia. It is said there are some in Cape Fear in North Carolina…” Also on the front page is a Resolve from Congress concerning naval affairs signed in type by John Hancock.
The paper includes more reports and letters, including a lengthy article by Sir Peter Parker about the recent Battle of Sullivan’s Island (First Siege of Charleston) during which the British failed to capture Charleston from American forces, several reports from the recent Battle of White Plains, and a report of the surrender of Fort Washington in New York.
