Six (6) albumen stereoviews on publisher's orange and yellow card mounts. New York: E. & H.T. Anthony & Co., ca. 1868–1870. Printed publisher's paper labels and series titles affixed to versos. One with bookseller's ticket affixed ("L.E. Walker / Bookseller / Warsaw, N.Y.").

An impressive archive of early railroad and western territorial stereoviews published by E. & H.T. Anthony from negatives exposed primarily by official Union Pacific Railroad photographer Andrew J. Russell and prominent Salt Lake City pioneer photographer Charles Roscoe Savage. Documenting the engineering milestones, rugged geology, and emerging settlements surrounding the completion of the First Transcontinental Railroad in Utah and Wyoming Territory, five of the views bear Anthony's celebrated series label, "Views Along the Line of the Pacific Rail Road," while the sixth derives from "Anthony’s Stereoscopic Views." Most notably, the views retain exceptional human scale, featuring railroad surveyors, travelers, and telegraph poles strategically posed against the monumental canyon walls.

The lot includes:

1.  No. 7675 Pulpit Rock. An early framing with track curving into the foreground and a figure perched beside the rail.

2. No. 7146 Egyptian Tombs on the Bluff, Mouth of Echo Canyon. An impressive view of layered rock strata with seated and standing surveyors at the base.

3. No. 7140 Pulpit Rock, Echo Canyon. An expansive landscape view showing the distinctive formation alongside the early transcontinental roadbed and telegraph lines.

4. No. 7129 Looking East from the Devil’s Gate, Lower Weber Canyon. An atmospheric riverside mountain vista.

5. No. 5265 Section of the Roof of the New Tabernacle, Salt Lake City.  A classic and rare Savage negative documenting the massive lattice-truss timber roof under construction during Brigham Young's ambitious temple complex expansion.

6. No. 7148 Steamboat Bluff, 800 Feet High, Echo Canyon. A pensive shot of one lone surveyor standing in the foreground rubble.

Very good condition. The prints retain strong contrast and fine detail, exhibiting light age-appropriate edge fading and scattered minor spotting. The card mounts remain structurally flat and solid with honest edge rubbing and faint corner bumping.
