A rare and significant poster from Adolf Hitler's 1932 presidential campaign. The poster features an oversized portrait of Hitler in profile above a mass rally. His is contrasted with caricatures of the other German political parties. 

The design was commissioned by Heinz Franke, an early member of the Nazis, having joined in 1928. He chose another early adopter of Nazism, Felix Albrecht (1900-1980), who joined the party in 1927. Albrecht was also a member of the SA, the SS, and the Waffen-SS. 

The Nazi Party began to see real political success in the 1930s, winning 18% of the vote in the national parliamentary elections in 1930, and 37% in 1932, more votes than any other party. 

In the 1932 presidential election, Adolf Hitler ran against incumbent Paul von Hindenburg. Although Hindenburg won reelection, Hitler earned over 36% of the vote. Political pressure forced Hindenburg to appoint Hitler as Chancellor of Germany in January 1933. After Hindenburg's death in 1934, Hitler consolidated the powers of President and Chancellor, becoming the de facto head of state.
