Genl. William Henry Harrison... Printed silk illustrated memorial ribbon. [New York?]: N.p., [1841].  2 15/16 x 7 11/16 in.

A very rare mourning ribbon memorializing President William Henry Harrison. Profusely illustrated, the ribbon features a urn emblazoned "HARRISON" below an eagle bearing a riband reading: "OUR NATION MOURNS / A HERO GONE." Beneath a willow symbolizing grief, a portrait of the late President rests against the plinth surrounded by draped flags. Below the text is an excellent vignette of an early fire engine. Unusually, the ribbon is printed on both sides, with the verso bearing a lengthy biography of Harrison that especially highlights his military career.

[Relics, Militaria] [Medals, Corps Badges, Badges, Ribbons] [Poltics, Presidents]

Very fine, bright.
