.36 caliber. 28" pinned octagonal barrel. NSN. Oxidized metal, brass furniture,  faux finished hardwood stock with raised cheek rest and crescent butt. Single shot percussion muzzleloading rifle with double set triggers, fixed notch rear sight and a dovetailed Rocky Mountain front sight blade. Unmarked commercial percussion lock secured by a single screw. Barrel unmarked. The barrel may have been shortened during the period of use to make the rifle handier for mounted use or in heavy brush. The 13.5" length of pull suggests it is not a youth rifle, but it may have been intended for use by a woman or smaller frame man. A well worn, but interesting mid-19th century short percussion rifle. {ANTIQUE}

Fair to Good. Heavily oxidized and crusty bore with weak but visible rifling. Metal moderately oxidized with a mottled dark gray and brown patina and scattered surface roughness with some scattered pitting. Lock needs mechanical attention to function correctly. Wood well worn, missing the forend cap with some damage and repair in that area. Wood is missing and there are repairs around the lock mortise. The forend is missing a pin and is loose with a rubber band holding the barrel to the stock near the muzzle. Otherwise wood with numerous bumps, dings, mars, and other damage.
