.36 caliber. 44.25" pinned octagonal barrel with long breech plug tang. NSN. Blued barrel, iron and brass furniture, full-length faux finished hardwood stock with raised cheek rest. Single shot percussion muzzleloading rifle with a semi-buckhorn rear sight, dovetailed low Rocky Mountain blade front sight, double set triggers, brass banana patchbox, and an old, crude wrist repair using copper sheeting and crude iron nails. Lock is an old, recycled US Model 1842 pistol lock by Johnson with weak markings and dated "1854" at the tail. The brass side plate is from an 1842 pistol as well. Barrel with some weak markings that read "WM. B. AND ??????", likely the name of the gun or barrel maker, but now illegible. Rifle of a roughly East Tennessee or Western North Carolina style with a long breech plug tang, elongated iron triggerguard with recurved finger spur, banana style patch and iron buttplate and toe plate. Rifle shows heavy use and has a great "mountain used" appearance. {ANTIQUE}

Fair to Good. Bore heavily rusted and obstructed by dirt, debris and rust with no visible rifling. Barrel with some traces of blue, mixed with a moderately oxidized brownish patina and showing some age discoloration and some scattered roughness and pitting. Lock not functional, mainspring is missing. Wood heavily worn with an old wrist repair using copper sheeting, significant wood loss due to burn out around the breech, as well as some slivered loss along the forend. Otherwise wood with scattered bumps, dings, scrapes, scathes, marks and mars.
