Louis Kurz, lithographer. Mr. Lincoln. Residence and Horse, In Springfield, Illinois, as they appeared on his return at the close of the Campaign with Senator Douglas. Lithograph. Chicago, Illinois: Alfred Storey & Co., 1865. Visible 20 7/8 x 16 7/8 in., framed to 25 1/4 x 21 1/4 in.
An attractive lithograph showing a bearded Lincoln on horseback in front of his Springfield, Illinois home. Though created in 1865 likely as a memorial print, the vignette depicts his return from the campaign with Senator Douglas in 1858. The lithograph faithfully recreates the Lincoln home and beautifully renders Lincoln and the gathered spectators, though notably, Lincoln would not grow a beard until the fall of 1860.
