A document granting Lincoln and his law partner, Willam H. Herndon, damages in a breach of contract (assumpsit) case with John B. Moffitt.
The document reads in part: "Which Abram Lincoln and William H. Herndon partners under the style of Lincoln + Herndon lately in our Circuit Court for said County recovered against him for Damages in an action [assumpsit] also, three dollars and ninety five cents, which was awarded by our court to said Lincoln + Herndon for their costs and charges."
Lincoln and Herndon formed a practice at the end of 1844, continuing to work together until Lincoln was nominated as the Republican presidential candidate.
