Inauguration Party. Printed invitation card. Jefferson, [Ohio]: 4 March 1861. 2 1/8 x 3 1/2 in.
A rare invitation to a grand Inauguration Party, "in honor of Abraham Lincoln's Inauguration," that was held at the "American House" in Jefferson, Ohio, on the day of Lincoln's inauguration in Washington. The music is advertised as being provided by Upson's Cotillon Band. The invitation also lists 14 men from the surrounding Ohio communities who were the managers of the event, no doubt enthusiastic Republicans.
A rare, possibly unique, piece of Lincoln ephemera.
VERY RARE. We have found no other examples.
