Pair of articulated skull cufflinks. Custom. Deakin & Francis. 18 karat white gold, black spinel, and diamonds. Head approx. 3/8 x 3/4 in. Full cufflink approx. 1 in. long. Post stamped with maker's marks and hallmarks. Weighs approx. 10.1 grams.
A striking and technically sophisticated pair of articulated skull cufflinks, custom-made by Deakin and Francis in 18-karat white gold. Each skull is densely pavé-set with black spinel, the finely contoured surfaces lending depth and texture to the sculptural form. The jaws are fully articulated; when lowered, a concealed mechanism activates a dramatic transformation as diamond-set eyes descend into position within the sockets, animating the skull with a vivid and theatrical effect.
The toggle backs are themselves carefully conceived, modeled as crossed bones, and both the articulation mechanism and toggles are in proper working order.
