Pair of articulated pig head cufflinks. Deakin & Francis (London). 18 karat gold and diamonds. Head approx. 1/2 x 3/4 in. Full cufflink 1 1/4 in. long. Post stamped "D&F" and "750." Weighs approx. 13.6 grams each.
A finely modeled pair of articulated pig head cufflinks executed in 18-karat gold. The sculptural heads are rendered with expressive detail and mechanical ingenuity. Each head features a hinged jaw which, when opened, reveals a red-enameled tongue while simultaneously animating the animal's face - its ears lift, and a pair of diamond-set eyes descend into view, creating a charming and theatrical effect.
