Pair of articulated gorilla head cufflinks. Deakin & Francis (London). 18 karat gold and diamonds. Head approx. 5/8 x 7/8 in. Full cufflink approx. 1 in. long. Post stamped "D&F" and "750." Weighs approx. 14 grams.
A finely modeled pair of articulated gorilla head cufflinks executed in 18-karat gold. The sculptural heads are rendered with expressive detail and mechanical ingenuity. Each head features a hinged jaw which, when opened, reveals a red-enameled tongue while simultaneously animating the animal's face- its ears lift, and a pair of diamond-set eyes descend into view, creating a charming and theatrical effect.
