A beautiful folding fan designed by Flemish artist Henri Cassiers to advertise the Red Star Line shipping company. This example is signed by several passengers to the recto among the printed American flag motifs. The verso features a four-line poem dated 30 April 1913 in Finland: "The human life is as the ocean, / Rough, untamed, fathomless / Where a moment big motion, / Follows days of long idleness."
