Sixth plate seated studio portrait daguerreotype. N.p., n.d. Brass matting in blue silk casing.
Seated primly in a white dress with bow-tied sleeves, a young girl stares off to the side of the photographer's lens. Behind her head, her mother's hands rest, seemingly in an attempt to still the child's head. The child is dressed neatly, with her hair combed out of her face and a beaded necklace draped around her neck. Her cheeks are slightly hand-tinted pink. A charming portrait made more endearing by the restlessness of the child's composure and a familiar attempt of a mother trying to calm her for the photograph's sake.
