Sixth plate seated studio portrait daguerreotype. N.p., ca. 1850s. Full leatherette case.

This seated three-quarter-length portrait depicts a refined young woman calmly gazing slightly to the left of the camera. Her elaborate coiffure features braided crown bands pinned with hair ornaments and long ringlets falling past her collarbones. She is dressed in a dark velvet or heavy silk bodice with three-quarter sleeves edged in delicate lace, accented by a white scalloped neckline and an unforgettable white floral appliqué to her midriff.

[Daguerreotype, Sixth Plate, Cased Image, Victorian Fashion, 19th Century Photography, Antebellum Portraiture, Ringlets, Hair Jewelry, Corsage, Lace Collar, Embossed Leather Case]

The plate retains exceptional sharpness and clarity and exhibits only minimal scattered dusting and faint peripheral tarnish along the inner oval mat edge. Some solarization where the mat meets the plate.
