This vertical interior view captures the historic Liberty Bell mounted atop an ornate pedestal inside the ground-floor vestibule of Independence Hall in Philadelphia. The relic is enclosed behind an elaborate wrought iron fence. Raised lettering visible around the bell's crown, including part of the famous Leviticus inscription, "[Proclaim Liberty] Throughout All the [Land Unto All the Inhabitants thereof" and "[By Order of the] Assembly of the [Province of Pensylvania for the State House in Philada.]."

Following its famous crack in the 1840s, the Liberty Bell was lowered from the tower and placed on ground-level exhibition inside Independence Hall, where it served as a primary destination for Civil War-era travelers and 1876 Centennial pilgrims. Cartes de visite documenting the bell in this early pedestal configuration are very scarce.

Very good condition. The albumen print retains warm sepia tones, sharp architectural and sculptural detail, and strong visual clarity. The mount shows trimmed upper and lower corners typical of period album insertion, with light toning to the verso.
