RI-283. 2 July 1780 State of Rhode Island and Providence Plantations $2 note. Printed [Philadelphia, Pennsylvania]: Hall and Sellers, 1780. Serial No. 881. Signed Metcalfe Bowler and Adam Comstock. Guaranty printed to verso and signed by Jonathan Arnold. Paper watermarked "CONFEDERATION" in two lines. Verso printed in black and red. 3 11/16 x 2 7/8 in.

Featuring face border cuts and the back cuts engraved by Henry Dawkins. Verso's border cuts and emblems from the 14 January 1779 issue of Continental Currency, also printed by Hall and Sellers. The notes were authorized by a 24 July 1780 (contrary to the July 2nd date printed on the bills) and March 1781.
