Cover featuring print of a tree with American flags branching off and the following quote underneath: "Traitor! spare that Tree, / Cleave not a single bough, / In youth it shelter'd me, / And I'll protect it now." Also features print of the word "UNION" with American flag design. Addressed to Maria Free of Cochrans Mills, Armstrong County, Pennsylvania. Approx. 5 1/4 x 3 1/4 in. With faded cancel. Verso features the address, "J.G. Wells, 165 Williams St., N.Y."
