A portrait of General Thomas "Stonewall" Jackson standing with his horse, Little Sorrel. Based on the foliage surrounding the pair, it's possible this painting is set somewhere in the South, perhaps one of the Carolinas. Jackson can be seen wearing standard Confederate gray and butternut clothing and what appears to be a slouch hat.
Rick Reeves (b. 1959) of Tampa, Florida, is a master of American military paintings, devoting exceptional detail to the uniforms, flags, and landscapes. His paintings reveal a profound understanding of the battlefield and a sensitivity to the pivotal moments of war.
