2. Excavated rectangular CSA Atlanta Arsenal-style buckles. Sand-cast brass, with cast brass hooks. Each approx. 2 3/4 x 2 in.  Kerksis 299-301; Mullinax 066-081.

A typical "Atlanta Arsenal" style CSA rectangular buckle with large, clear letters, small periods, and thick borders. They were almost certainly manufactured in Atlanta and primarily used in the Western Theater. An example with a high copper content displaying a mottled verdigris against a reddish-brown patina.
