A Virginia soldier poses for a photo in full uniform. Based on his hat and uniform, he was most likely a member of Lt. Col W.C. Wickham’s Hanover Light Dragoons from the 4th Virginia Cavalry. The 4th was organized in September 1861 and was assigned to Stuart’s Cavalry Brigade, which was part of the Army of the Potomac. As part of the regiment, this soldier would have faced battle at Antietam, Fredericksburg, and Gettysburg.
