1861-1865. Union regulation single-breasted blue wool frock coat.

Consignor relates there is oral provenance that this jacket was worn by a Civil War officer from Wisconsin.

The coat has seven of the nine original Union Infantry buttons. All original cuff and tail buttons are present. Twill woven wool/silk, and wool batting lining with deterioration. Trimmed for the rank of lieutenant with a handwritten inscription to the right sleeve identifying the jacket as potentially belonging to a "H.W. Poppet."
