Sixth plate half-length studio portrait tintype. N.p., circa 1861-1865. Full leatherette case.
An iconic image of the quintessential Southern soldier, offered as a premier highlight from the Pat Booth Collection of Civil War Photography.
Portrait of a bearded Confederate soldier wearing a battle shirt and dark round-brimmed hat. He holds an enormous clip point bowie knife in front of his chest and rests a double-barreled shotgun on his shoulder, two of the most recognizable (and desirable) weapons seen in southern photography. While his identity and unit affiliation are thus far unknown, double-barreled shotguns such as this one are more commonly seen in images of cavalrymen.
