Autograph letter signed by J.R. Jarvis to his friend Orvis Howard. [Warren, MA or NY], ca April 1863.
An extremely explicit home front letter written by J.R. Jarvis in response to a letter received from his friend Orvis Howard. Part of an ongoing correspondence with similar material, this letter contains many illustrations, including a pair of drawings depicting a farmer ordering his mule to perform oral sex on him, a dog sporting an erection, and a flock of birds defecating in unison.
The body of the letter apparently responds to drawings made of the writer by the letter's recipient, leading to rather thinly veiled moments on the writer's large endowment. In part: "[I] Stand six feet and 3 inches in my boots stout. Atheltic and intelligent with majestic step and stately bearing, a form that would do justice to a King's, a long Roman nose that runs up at the end like a whore master's prick...as I said before with a nose that turns up at the End with a high pie hole beneath it (Hea dof the pond) rather homely and to come to the point a long homely ape."
An illuminating letter.
