Autograph letter signed by H. Martin Lowe, United States Navy. Washington, D.C., 18 February 1863. 1 page, 8 x 10in.  Docketed to verso.

A letter written in a charming hand by a husband to his wife, detailing his service in Washington D.C. as a part of the United States Navy. H. Martin Lowe describes his routines and visitations throughout the city, noting the weather as well as plans for his return home to visit his wife, who he describes as supposing to be “quite anxious to see me.”

A fine example of regular correspondence between soldiers and their families at home.
