Single shot breechloading percussion carbine with saddle ring and bar to left receiver and sling loop to toe. Faint Burnside Rifle company marking on lockplate largely illegible. Upper breech shows a weakened BURNSIDE PATENT/MODEL OF 1864. Outlines of two illegible cartouches struck into left wrist. Serial numbers match on receiver and breechblock. Scattered martial inspection marks to major parts. Nipple is replaced. {ANTIQUE}

Good. Bore is Frosty with some pitting, patches of brown patina throughout. Metal finish is a deep brown with some traces of gray and some case colors extant on interior surfaces of breechblock. Marks to metal worn, suggesting buffing at some point. Wood has been sanded with scattered hendling dents and wear overall. Seam opening up between tang and wood on left wrist. Forend with a crack running from the right edge of receiver through the barrel band. Action functions when cycled by hand.
