Two (2) albumen CDVs featuring railroad scenes. N.p., n.d. [circa 1860s]. Inscribed in pencil to mount verso "Base of Lookout / Mountain" and "Lookout Mountain."
Prized as a crucial rail center during the Civil War, the focus on Chattanooga sharpened in the fall of 1863. The city served as major manufacturing and supply center, and which could then be transported throughout the Confederacy by the many rail lines that also converged there. Particularly, the Nashville and Chattanooga Railroad was subject to frequent damage during the conflict, as it carried supplies for first the Confederate and later the Union Army.
